Updating list items in sharepoint

Note: To add, edit, or delete items in a list, you must have permission to contribute to the list.

Author Gini Courter explains how to design streamlined workflows, from analyzing inefficiencies in manual processes to leveraging automation to avoid performing tedious, repetitive tasks.

The course also covers setting up forms and email notifications, collecting and working with user data, performing calculations, and making workflows reusable.

Recently, in one of my projects there was a requirement to create a Share Point list workflow that triggers when an item is created, and that should result in creating a new list item on another Share Point list which is created on some other Share Point instance.

I knew the default copy list item activity will not work in this scenario as both lists are not on the same Share Point site.

Views can show different columns, so you can hide columns without deleting.

For more info, see Create, change, or delete a view of a list or library. If so, please let us know at the bottom of this page.

Some pages cannot be edited--for example, the Site Contents page.

Just as with adding items, there are two ways to edit an item in a list.

For calling the Share Point REST Service, you may refer this link – Using Share Point REST services from workflow with POST method, which greatly helped me to quickly configure the workflow.

The changes to do in the created workflow are: Once you are done with this, save and publish the workflow. When you create/update (depending on your configuration) a list item in current Share Point list, it will create a list item in another Share Point site list, the URL of which you configured in the workflow.

See Restore deleted items in Site recycle bin for more info.
